之前老师有提到过上瘾、成瘾的行为，能不能再多讲一点？
You mentioned addictive behaviors.Could you please talk more about addiction?
因为，有的时候我们可能都会发现，自己无意识的刷手机、过度饮食、熬夜抽烟，或者是有一些不由自主的性行为，这种习惯很大程度上影响了日常生活。
Sometimes we find ourselves unconsciously scrolling on our phones, overeating, staying up late, smoking or engaging in compulsive sexual behaviors.
怎么从根源上解决这些问题，停止这些行为？
How can we stop these behaviors at the root?
米勒教授
So I think that addictions often come because people are trying to escape some of the difficult issues of being alive and what being a human being is about.
我认为成瘾性行为通常是因为我们想要逃避内在一些更深的困难，而这些困难似乎是生命、是生而为人必然的一部分。
We know that there are many positives about being a human being and being alive.
当然，生而为人有很多积极的面向。
There is beauty, there is nature, there is love, there is happiness, there is success. There’s family, there’s all kinds of wonderful things in life.
我们的生命中有美丽、有自然、有爱、有成功、有家人，有很多这样美妙的事情。
But there’s also some very frightening kinds of things like death and big questions: What is life about? Is there a higher power? What’s the purpose of living? People’s traumas, wars, evil. There’s all kinds of difficult things that every human being has to face…
但也有一些非常令人恐惧的东西，比如死亡，以及那些关于人生的大问题：活着的意义是什么？是否存在一个更高的力量？然后为什么我们的生命充满了创伤、战争、邪恶等等…
Even though we have advanced technology, we don’t get real answers to these things about unpredictability and life and death and all these big questions.
虽然科技已经发展到很高的程度，我们依然没有办法回答生命的不可预测性、生与死究竟是什么。
So I think addictions, and now particularly with the phones and the internet and the video games, it’s very easy to just numb ourselves out and not to deal with that inner anxiety underneath.
我认为成瘾行为，尤其是现在我们有手机、网络和电脑游戏，其实很容易利用这些东西去麻木自己，不去面对内在更深的那些焦虑。
especially children and young people today. They can escape into the fantasies of the video games and not have to deal with some of these big questions.
尤其是孩子和青少年，他们很容易就可以逃到电脑游戏的幻想里，不去想这些真实的问题。
That’s why I believe that a spiritual path and psycho-spiritual development is really important and necessary.
这也是为什么我认为心理-心性发展道路非常必要且重要。
Because if we really think about and try to concentrate on some of these big questions and find our own way for being at peace and our own answers, then we can’t become addicted and we won’t become addicted if we instead face and try to deal with these big questions.
如果我们真的能够去直面这些困难的问题，去找到自己的解决之道，或者说获得内心平静的生命状态，我们其实就不会有成瘾性的行为。
I don’t know if you agree with me or not, or if other students have any views on the issue of addiction?
我不知道你是否同意，或者其他同学关于成瘾这个问题有没有一些看法？

对的，我同意老师说的。但成人是有能力在一定程度上做有意识的辨别，而像有些未成年人，他们的行为真的很无意识，有时候不好去引导。
Yes, I agree with you, but as adults it’s like sometimes we can be aware, be conscious of what we’re doing, but for children and teenagers, those who are under age, sometimes they’re really unconscious about what they are doing and it’s difficult to provide guidance.
米勒教授
I understand the children are unconscious and they don’t understand. That’s why I believe that their parents and their teachers have to change the way they’re dealing with them and really start to explore with them what’s going on.
我能理解，很多孩子是无意识的。这也正是对于父母和老师来说，他们真的需要去改变与孩子相处的方式，要真正开始和孩子一起去面对和探索发生的事情。
And if the teachers and the parents don’t believe that, then we’ve got a real crisis that’s going on, which I think is really happening now.
当然，问题是很多时候家长和老师也不知道发生了什么，这种情况下就真的变成了一个社会危机，而这其实正是现在在发生的事情。
I remember we talked about Spiral Dynamics and we talked about the first tier consciousness, that when people are conscious and on a psycho-spiritual path of development, that’s only like 2% of the world’s population.
记得我们在讲螺旋动力学模型的时候，提到那些到达了第一层级意识、有觉知地去生活的人，只占约2%的人口。
So, I believe that the entire world is facing a profound challenge in the realms of education and parent-child communication.
所以，我认为整个世界在教育、亲子沟通层面，我们正面临一种深刻的挑战。
I don’t know if you agree with me or not, but that’s my personal opinion.
我不知道你是否同意，这个是我个人的想法。
So It’s up to you, it is a call to each and every one of us who has gained this awareness to help the younger generation in the best way we can.
所以，这取决于我们，取决于我们作为这极少数人，去尽己所能地帮助年轻一代。
